WORKSHOP

SOACT continues to strive for excellence in all productions. It is not possible for us to improve without regular training. In conjunction with the CSU regular workshops will be conducted in the Basement Theatre. Many aspects of theatre will be covered throughout the year. Workshops are conducted by either University lecturers or students completing honours or 3rd year.
Lighting workshop
Our first workshop presented by Jo Espey, 3rd year student from CSU. Following this workshop Jo has been training members on rigging, setting and operating lights for our 2005 travelling show "SYLVIA". ** Further details about workshops will be posted when they become available.
In 2006 Mick Radatti conducted a  sound workshop at the Basement for 8 members of SoACT.
In June 2009 Louise Blackett conducts a speech workshop at the Basement Theatre, leading up to the auditions for "The importance of being Ernest"
In 2008 Mick Radatti conducted a second sound workshop at the Basement and was attended by around 15 people.
A workshop for writers of ten minute plays was successfully concluded in September 2009 at the Basement. The well known playwright and artistic director of Short + Sweet, Alex Broun conducted the workshop over a weekend, culminating in a moved reading on the Sunday of 6 plays. This workshop was made possible by a grant from CASP.
 A mini publicity workshop is to be held on the 29th January at 8PM at the Basement, conducted by Mick Radatti. The workshop will run for appox. one hour and is free of charge and open to all SoACT members.The emphasis, is obvioulsy on promoting theatrical productions.
