The Proposal and The Bear are two of Chekhov’s best loved one-act plays, where gentle humor is used to explore the pitfalls of human interaction, attraction, love and mutual misunderstanding.
Falling, as they do, between Chekhov’s short stories and the three act plays, they reflect aspects of both – the succinct brevity of the short stories, and the beginnings of exploration of major themes that are re-worked and expanded in the longer plays.
The plays are scheduled to run four consecutive Sundays only, that is 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd August, with two performances a day, 3.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. in the Basement Theatre.
You will be guaranteed a thoroughly enjoyable theatre experience, so make sure you don’t miss these delightful plays.
Bookings are available at the Civic Theatre Booking Office, Phone (02) 6929 9688 or at the door.
