What happens when you focus too much on doing your duty and not as much on doing what’s right? Well, they are the same thing normally, unless your nursery maid has mistakenly apprenticed you to be a pirate instead of a pilot, as she had actually been told. The legalism of complying with an apprenticeship contract with people who, strictly speaking, sail against the current of the law might have produced terrible consequences. However, in the hands of that master satirist, William.S. Gilbert, it might alternatively end in tummy cramps from trying to keep in gut-wrenching heaves of laughter and spots of fluff on your clothing from rolling in the aisles helpless with mirth!
