Sundays in August – Shirley Valentine

Bookings are now open for Wagga School of Arts’ exciting new production, Shirley Valentine.
Funny, thoughtful and always enjoyable, Shirley Valentine will be presented under the sponsorship of Mantra Pavilion Hotel for the School of Arts’ popular Month of Sundays in August, in the Basement Theatre, Morrow Street.
The production has special significance as the group’s first one-woman show, with Jo Darby taking on the challenging role of Shirley Valentine.
With a background of extensive acting experience in South Africa, Jo has appeared in Wagga in “Tenx10” plays for SoACT, as well as supporting roles in the community productions of “My Fair Lady” and “Away”.
She is now bringing to life the lovable English housewife, Shirley Valentine, as she longs for excitement in her life, finally breaking free to holiday on a Greek island.
The play won the 1988 Laurence Olivier award as best new comedy and became a popular film starring Pauline Collins in 1990.
Wagga audiences can meet Shirley Valentine at 3pm each Sunday afternoon in August, beginning on 2 August.
Bookings can be made at the Civic Theatre Booking Office on 02 6926 9688.
